Stone pelting at Jahangirpuri temple: Delhi Police identify culprits, probe fake news

NEW DELHI: NEW DELHI: A CCTV footage has surfaced showing an alleged stone-pelting incident near a temple in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Monday evening.
Police said that the incident occurred around 8.15pm on November 4, when two groups of juveniles clashed near the temple premises.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Abhishek Dhania, confirmed the incident, stating that one of the groups resorted to stone pelting and even entered the temple during the altercation.
The police responded to the scene and launched an inquiry. Two separate FIRs have been filed, and the authorities have already identified those involved in the incident, the officer said.
DCP Dhania said that misinformation was being spread on social media platforms with the intent to disturb communal harmony.
The cyber team has traced several social media handles spreading false narratives and is in the process of identifying the individuals behind the accounts, he said.
Legal action will be taken against those responsible for peddling fake news, Dhania added.
